I absolutely love to mix prints and lately have been getting bolder by mixing up to three different prints. I have a few rules that I like to abide by in order to create a cohesive look that may not match but certainly makes sense.

Rule #1 mix a large print with a small print to create balanced overall look.

Rule #2 keep your patterns in the same color family, that doesn’t mean they have to “match” they just have to make sense together.

Rule #3 add in a solid color to break up your patterns. In this photo, my pants break up the patterns between my polka dot top and floral shoes.

Rule #4 Leopard is ALWAYS a neutral.

If you do decide to mix more than two patterns, just remember to keep one of them a simple print like a stripe, polka dot, or gingham.
